IDEAL Cell: Work Package 6 "Dissemination and Knowledge Management"

Objectives

The main objectives of this work package are:

• To gather the intellectual resources of the team for the implementation of the project;
• To foster the culture of collaborative research by using new and more powerful e-tools for scientific co-operation;
• To support and optimize the enhancement of the team knowledge;
• To promote the dissemination of the achievements for the specialists of the project field as well as for the public with the aim to accelerate the adoption of this concept for a sustainable, competitive and secure European energy.

Description of work

Task 6.1. Design and implementation of the project’s web site (Partner 5)

The project’s web site will be developed as an instrument for an easy internal scientific communication between the partners as well as for internal and external gathering and dissemination of knowledge and information. It consists of 2 parts:

• Internal – for the project’s implementation with an access only for the consortium members;
• Public – for external presentation of the project's implementation and for dissemination of information and knowledge.

Task 6.2. Management of internal knowledge (Partner 5)

The management of the internal knowledge, which is distributed "geographically" between the partners, will be realized basically via the internal web site (intranet), using pre–existing and developing some specific components of the e-science tool VRIMS (Virtual Research and Iinformation Management System):

• Virtual Meetings – for quick internal exchange of "hot information and results";
• Impedanceline for quick exchange of data and analysed results;
• Project Resources Pool: for sharing of scientific information via accumulation of tagged references (articles, publications, reviews, firms information etc.).

Task 6.3. Organization of workshops combined with Consortium meetings (Partner 1, Partner 5)

Once in every 2 years a workshop (WS) will be organized, where the stage of scientific and technical implementation (achievements, problems, future steps etc.) will be discussed. Some lectures and seminars for knowledge enhancement will be also organized. The WS will be combined with the Executive Board Meeting.

Task 6.4: Dissemination of knowledge (Partner 5)

The dissemination of knowledge and innovations during the implementation of the project will be realized mainly via the public part of the web site, with some information about the project’s objectives and implementation. Three of the deliverables at the end of the project will have dissemination functions:

• Final version of the public web-site, which will be used as a knowledge source for the familiarization with the breakthrough concept of the project and its realization;
• Dissemination booklet for more popular presentation of the project’s ideas and their implementation;
• CD ("IDEAL Cell") with rich professional information for the realization of the project.

Task 6.5. Internal Training (Partner 1, Partner 2, Partner 3, Partner 4, Partner 5)

The multidisciplinary expertise of the consortium as well as the innovative orientation of the project need knowledge enhancement in neighbouring zones, which will be realized via seminars during the workshops, e–training and internal training in person ("hands on"), including training "on the spot", if needed.

Task 6.6. Benchmarking of the Ideal-Cell concept (Partner 5, Partner 9)

Benchmarking on the existing cell/stack concepts will be performed. The Ideal-Cell concept will be benchmarked along to the following aspects:

• Expected cost of large scale fabrication; possible production automation; cost of materials; mass manufacture issues;
• Actual performance (power density per unit volume, power density per unit weight);
• Durability: actual and projected degradation;
• Expected performance: improvements of performance due to better balance of plant components, various aspects of operation and maintenance;
• Expected applications, market evaluation, innovative applications.
