Sébastien Chevalier is Associate Professor at Université de Bourgogne, Institut Carnot de Bourgogne, Interface and Reactivity of Materials Department Corrosion and Protection group. Co-author of 50 papers published on international journals, he participated to about 40 International Conferences and operates as referee for a few Journals in the field of metallurgy, corrosion and materials science. He wrote a book on Surface Treatment and High Temperature Corrosion (Les Editions Universitaires de Bourgogne, March 2007) and participated to 3 books in the field of high temperature corrosion.
S. Chevalier is a specialist in metallurgy and high temperature corrosion. Several tools have been developed in the group in order to understand and to improve the high-temperature corrosion behaviour of metallic materials: two stage oxidation experiments under 16O2/18O2; oxidation experiments under D2O and/or H218O; LP-MOCVD device and pack cementation process in order to make surface treatment; high temperature devices under complicated atmospheres: water vapour, sulphur vapour, H2/H2S, chloride. For understanding of high temperature performances of metallic materials, accurate characterization tools as SEM-EDX, XRD (ex-situ and in-situ with the use of a high temperature chamber under controlled atmosphere), SIMS, XPS and TEM are used.
